Members of the Oregon Farm Bureau visited both Portland Ronald McDonald Houses on Monday to donate more than $800 in food and groceries. The donation was part of the Farm Bureau’s “Food Check-Out Week,” an effort to help consumers learn how to shop effectively, and put more nutritious meals on the table with fewer dollars.
Each family at the Ronald McDonald House is able to store their own private groceries, but can also use donations like the Farm Bureau’s to help save on money while their child is in the hospital. Donations like the Farm Bureau’s also mean that families from outside the Portland area don’t need to worry about grocery shopping in an unfamiliar city while their child is receiving treatment.
We encourage everyone to sign up for our RMHC E-Newsletter through our website Rmhcoregon.org. It’s a great way to keep connected with news from both houses, and find out ways to support RMHC.
By signing up for our email list, you’ll receive our e-news every two months. On rare occasions, we’ll also send you periodic e-cards or letters announcing special opportunities to support RMHC at events and programs throughout the year.
We promise that your email address will remain confidential. We don’t share our contact list with anyone. At any point, you can also choose to opt out of receiving our announcements.
Meet our 2010 Valentine’s sweetheart, 2-year old Chloe. Chloe has spent the last four months at the Ronald McDonald House East with her parents, and her two older brothers Alex & Tyler, while her newly-born baby sister Madelyn Grace has been in the hospital. This inquisitive cutie has made friends with almost everyone at the house. Whether staff, guests, volunteers, or visitors, she’s not bashful about sharing her affection with an open heart.
Chloe has been our Valentine’s inspiration this year, and we would like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day from your friends at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

In 1998, Tiffany & Mark Bulgin first visited the Ronald McDonald House with their two-year old son Isaac. The couple returned recently with a group from Isaac’s Room, a Salem-based non-profit that they founded in Isaac’s memory. The group made dinner for house guests, and toured the house, even stopping at the room where the Bulgin’s first stayed more than 10 years ago.
